Free coffee and free airline miles? Sign me up!!

A couple of days ago, Starbucks and Delta announced their new partnership! By linking your Delta SkyMiles account to your Starbucks rewards account, you can accrue more points for free coffee and miles.

But how many stars or miles do you get from licking your accounts?  Well, there are a few different ways that this can benefit you as a traveler or a coffee drinker. Firstly there is a linking bonus.  When you sign up, link your accounts. If you sign up before December 31st, 2022, you will be rewarded with 150 free stars and 500 Miles toward your SkyMiles account.  For those new to Starbucks rewards, the program acts as a refillable virtual gift card. By refilling the virtual card through the app, you can make purchases and even order Starbucks ahead of time for pickup. Each purchase results in one or two stars per dollar. 150 stars are equivalent to one free drink of any size with any modifications.  The 150-star bonus will be posted to your account within 2 to 3 business days. Of course, 500 miles isn't enough to get a free plane ticket, but it is a solid assist.

However, we’re not just here for the bonus. Overtime, you can still accrue miles and stars through this partnership. When you fly Delta, you will get double Stars anytime you purchase a Starbucks beverage on the day you fly.

On the opposing side, every time you spend $1 at Starbucks, you will get 1 mile towards your Delta SkyMiles account. If you think you won't accrue many points using your Starbucks card, don't worry; SkyMiles never expire. Delta is also part of the SkyTeam Alliance, meaning you can transfer their points to any partners. The SkyTeam Alliance includes airlines such as Korean Air, China Eastern, Virgin Atlantic, KLM, and Air France.

If you do not already have a Delta SkyMiles account, you can sign up through this link.  for those who don't have a Starbucks account, you can sign up here.  You will need both memberships to be active for this program to work. Link your accounts using this link!

Bonus Tip: Refill your Starbucks account using a travel credit card to get the most bang for your buck.  Not only will you get points for this program, but you will also get points per dollar for reloading the online Starbucks card.
